Gold Inspiration | Wedding Logo Color of the Week

Gold: no substance has ever been more sought after, or fought over. And as a wedding accent color, it certainly has the cred to lend a fancy touch! From the bright and the shiny to the palest hue, from ornate, detailed ornamentation to organic designs, gold has the class and elegance to be worthy of the most beautiful of weddings. That’s why we chose gold as our color inspiration this week: because the love expressed in your wedding is more precious than gold.

Wedding Logo Spotlight | Bold Exotic Fan

Today we’re featuring a logo from the Forever Logos Vintage collection. This logo is bold and distinctive, with its exotic ornamental fan and strong typography. The fan can be interpreted in so many ways: it’s reminiscent of both a wedding cake and a fancy tiara, a stylized palm frond and an exotic fruit. The first and last letters of the last name are taller than the middle letters, creating dramatic movement within the logo, balanced by the ornate fan motif and the simple, all-caps Roman style lettering of the couple’s first names. This wedding logo works well for tropical destination weddings, weddings with a 1920s Art Deco theme, or anyone who likes this bold, eye-catching look.

The logo is featured here in shiny, metallic gold, against a chocolate brown, parchment background lit by a warm glow.

Invitation Spotlight: Victorian Chandelier Damask Wedding Invitation Set

In warm cream and black, these chandelier themed wedding invitations and stationery have at once a vintage sensibility and a contemporary confidence. The dramatic chandelier silhouette is the clear centerpiece of these invitations, and together with the distressed damask background, lends a theme of fancy, victorian-inspired elegance. The chandelier has been paired with an ornate banner, and an old-fashioned locket. The locket alternately bears the couple’s wedding date and monogram initials, in the second case serving as a sort of monogram wedding logo.

Charcoal Inspiration | Wedding Logo Color of the Week

I love grey (that’s “grey” with an “e”)… and these shades of charcoal dark grey are just delicious for weddings! So different, modern and unusual. This color is completely bold and contemporary, but perfectly compatible with vintage schemes as well.

Wedding Logo Spotlight: Fanciful Butterfly

A butterfly themed wedding logo strikes a delicate balance between the strength and simplicity of serif lettering and the youthful playfulness of a butterfly motif. With its embrace of the natural world and all its beauty, this logo is perfect for spring, summer and outdoor weddings.

Here, the logo is featured in brilliant orange, looking like it’s been cut out from a parchment-textured design of blue sky, wispy clouds, and  vibrantly fluttering monarch butterflies. This logo is from the Forever Logos Nature collection.

Project of the Week: Browning “Buckmark” Inspired Wedding Logo

This week I had the pleasure of working on a custom wedding logo with a bride whose fiance loves to hunt. She wanted to do a Browning “Buckmark” inspired wedding logo to surprise her fiance! I was excited to receive this request, because I’ve actually been playing around with the idea of doing a deer-based wedding logo for quite some time.

The first round of ideas I sent her used deer motifs derived from the buckmark and adapted to varying degrees. (I thought it would be cute to add a matching doe to make a deer couple.) In this group, I particularly like 3, 4 and 6 – she liked number 4, but wanted the buck to be less obvious, perhaps in outline.

The challenge was this: make the buck element visible enough that her husband could see and enjoy it, but understated enough that most guests wouldn’t immediately realize there was a deer in the logo! Appropriate enough when you consider the importance of camouflage and perception in hunting…

The next round of ideas I sent definitely played down the deer aspect. I made the deer an outline, rather than filled, and in some of these I turned his antlers into more abstract swirls.In the column all the way to the right, I tried to sort of “hide” the deer among the swirls of the script initials. These were the ones she liked.

So after a little more input, this is what we have to the date of this writing:

As you can see, the deer is definitely there, but you have to look for it among the more classic script and serif monogram. The colors and design aren’t finalized yet, but she’s happy and wants to use this very personal and unique wedding logo on her cake, invitations and other wedding decor! Thanks Gina, it was a challenge, but so fun!

Invitation Spotlight: Vintage Damask Lace in Green & Brown

I love this wedding invitation set because of the down to earth, natural feel of the vibrant leaf green and chocolate brown. A lacy damask border adds a suggestion of vintage embellishment, seamlessly tying intricate ornamentation with an earthy sensibility. Suggestions: Order this invitation on felt paper for an old-fashioned, tactile texture – or on recycled paper, for some environmental love!

Aubergine Inspiration | Wedding Logo Color of the Week

I love Aubergine. Some may call it eggplant, some deep purple, some grape – I like “Aubergine” – it’s French! Aubergine was the color of the first wedding logo I ever designed, and somehow it has never left me. Its floral connotations make it suitable for spring and summer, while the deep, subtle richness of the color makes it perfect for fall and winter. Aubergine pairs well with cream, white and black.

Wedding Logo Spotlight: Classic Simplicity 16.5.2011

A swirly, graceful script monogram initial B is paired with the names of an engaged couple in all-capital, Roman style font. This wedding logo is understated in its simplicity, which allows it a certain light, nimble elegance.

Arielle by Forever Wedding: Simple yet Fancy Invitations

I just received 10 samples of the wedding invitations I designed for Zazzle.com, and I LOVE THEM! I think they look wonderful! I chose linen as the paper for these, and I love the feel and texture of them.

The linen paper is so crisp and clean, and the printing is impressively sharp, even on textured paper! They look so fancy and classy; I am really pleased. I think the background pattern, repeating and varying arcs of tiny dots, works really well here too.
